Gujiya

Gujiya is a popular North Indian sweet that is made especially at the time of holi.

Steps:

  1. Take Wheat Flour + maida + 1/4th tablespoon salt
  2. Heat 2 tablespoon Dairy Barn Organic Ghee in a small pan or bowl
  3. Pour the ghee on the flour mix
  4. Rub the flour mix with your fingertips so that you obtain bread crumb like texture
  5. Add ½ cup water in parts and knead the flour mix. Add the water as per requirement.
  6. Cover the dough with a moist cloth and let it settle for 30 minutes

Steps to make stuffing:

  1. Chop 1/3rd cup dry fruits
  2. Melt ½ tablespoon Dairy Barn Ghee on pan at a low flame
  3. Add one cup crumbled Khoya and stir it till it becomes a whole part
  4. After it cools down add 1/3rd cup of powder sugar, chopped dry fruits and 1/2 spoon cardamom powder and mix it well. Add sugar if needed.

Final Assembly

  1. Divide the dough into small parts. Roll the balls and make small circles of 5 inches diameter.
  2. Place the gujiya stuffing inside the flat dough and carefully close the stuffing by packing the dough.
  3. Trim the extra edges of the gujiya using the trimmer.
  4. Add sufficient amount of Dairy Barn A2 Ghee in a pan and let it heat well.
  5. Slide the gujiya into the pan and fry them carefully.
  6. Once the color turns brown take out the gujiya’s and drain them on kitchen tissues.
  7. Serve the delicious Gujiyas.
